Efficiency control of the fish pass at the weir Schöps (river Saale) near Jägersdorf
In the context of the project "Begleituntersuchungen zur Reaktivierung von Kleinwasserkraftanlagen in Thüringen" (Studies to reactivate small hydropower plants in Thuringia), which is supported by Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU, Osnabrück), an efficiency control of the fish pass at the weir Schöps (river Saale) was made. The fish pass was built in 1998 as a bypass channel in tipped rock construction made of big stones (diameter between 0.7 m and 1.0 m) arranged in bars. After the completion a natural sediment was filled into the bed. The efficiency control consists of the identification of structural and hydraulic parameters (technical data), two times monitoring of the migrating fish with a fish trap in spring and fall of 1999, and an examination of the colonization by small invertebrate organisms (macrozoobenthos).
